We’re so pleased to report that our winter campaign SAVE OUR SOLES has been a tremendous success! A number of organisations in our local community including schools, colleges, brownie groups, choirs and shops, and many individuals joined in with collecting socks and money for the appeal.
We surpassed our target of 1,000 pairs of new socks by Christmas, and by the end of our first sorting session of 2019 last Monday we had reached the amazing figure of 1,255 pairs of socks!
We have been sending socks on to distribution charities as soon as they arrived, and so many will already have been on refugee’s feet by Christmas. Last Monday’s batch is already loaded and will be in Calais later this week, and more are on their way to Syria and Greece. The money collected will go direct to Help Refugees.
Please remember that we will very happily take pairs of new socks at any time: they are something that is always needed, so if you still have some to donate (and we know there is at least one more batch on the way) they will be just as gratefully received.
All our donation drop points are open again as usual after the festive break, and we look forward to receiving your aid donations in 2019.
Thank you so much for your ongoing support!
