Our first campaign enabled us to mobilise a massive network of people to:
- collect clothing, food, bedding and tents, from hundreds of generous individuals and organisations in Bruton, Frome, Glastonbury and the surrounding area;
- deliver four van-loads of essential aid items to the camp in Calais;
- fundraise £3,352 in just one month (more than 3 times our target);
- give a £500 donation to The Women & Children’s centre;
- give two further donations of £100 each to individual volunteers working/living within the camp to buy essential supplies;
- buy and deliver the ‘Caravan of Calm’ women & children’s therapy and outreach centre;
- take a total of 11 volunteers over to Calais;
- provide a total of 25 person-days in the camp by the 11 volunteers;
- tow a total of 5 caravans onsite to be used as family accommodation;
- distribute aid directly within the camp;
- set-up the beginnings of a therapeutic network to support volunteers;
- hold a day of 1:1 therapeutic support sessions with volunteers;
- build a network and knowledge base within the camp;
- set up a volunteer recruitment/schedule system for the women’s centre.
